He was previously a Managing Director at CBC Group focused on medical technology investments across the US, Europe and Asia, and before that co-founded the US healthcare venture investing arms at Temasek/Vertex Healthcare and at Qiming Venture Partners. He began his investment career at New Enterprise Associates. He moved from clinical medicine into industry as a Senior Design Engineer at Guidant Corporation, where he was the principal inventor on one of the earliest stentriever devices for ischemic stroke, and he is an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Stanford University. He holds an MD, an MBA and an MS in biomechanical engineering from Stanford University.
