Biography

Xavier Lazarus is a co-founder and Managing Partner of Elaia. He trained as a mathematician at the École Normale Supérieure, holds an agrégation and a PhD in mathematics, and began his career in the arithmetics and algebraic geometry research laboratory at Université Paris-Sud. He then founded a start-up in e-learning which was sold to a French publisher in 1999, and afterwards joined CPR, later acquired by Crédit Agricole Indosuez, where he created and developed a venture capital activity focused on software and the internet. He co-founded Elaia in 2002 with Philippe Gire and leads its digital investment activity. Since April 2024 he also heads Lazard Elaia Capital, the Paris growth-equity company set up with Lazard. Elaia's site lists his focus as ad tech, big data, machine learning, digital media and SaaS.
