Biography

Stuart Essig, Ph.D. is a Venture Partner at Wellington Partners, an advisory rather than full-time investing role, and advises on medical devices and strategic healthcare decisions. He holds an A.B. from Princeton University and an MBA and PhD in financial economics from the University of Chicago. He spent a decade in healthcare M&A advisory at Goldman Sachs & Co. and then led its medical technology practice as a Managing Director. From 1997 to 2012 he was CEO of Integra LifeSciences, growing revenues from $15 million to $1.5 billion, and he remains Chairman of the Nasdaq-listed company. He joined Wellington Partners in March 2013. He chairs Breg Inc. and sits on the boards of IDEXX Laboratories and SeaSpine, and previously served on the boards of St. Jude Medical, Owens & Minor, Zimmer and Vital Signs.
