Biography

Prof. Dr. Erich Schlick is a Venture Partner at Wellington Partners, an advisory rather than full-time investing role. He holds a doctorate in medicine from the University of Heidelberg and a professorship in immunopharmacology, and trained at the US National Cancer Institute in oncology and immunology. He spent 15 years at BASF Pharma and Knoll AG, where he was Global Head of R&D and an executive board member, and where in the 1990s he initiated the development of Humira, the first fully human monoclonal antibody treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, which reached $20 billion in sales by 2018. He then joined 3i as Director and Head of 3i Healthcare Germany and Deputy Sector Head of 3i Healthcare Worldwide. He joined Wellington Partners in 2005; portfolio successes he is associated with include Symetis, acquired by Boston Scientific, and Immatics, which listed on Nasdaq in 2020 via a SPAC transaction.
