Biography

Yuh-geng Tsay joined Vivo Capital in 2016 as a Venture Partner. Before retiring in 2010 from Thermo Fisher Scientific (NYSE: TMO) he was Senior Vice President and Group President of the company's Specialty Diagnostic business, which his Vivo biography puts at USD 2 billion in worldwide annual revenue. He was Group President of Immunodiagnostics at Fisher Scientific (NYSE: FSH) before Fisher's merger with Thermo Electron in 2006, and from 2000 to 2004 Group President of Clinical Diagnostics at Apogent (NYSE: AOT), which Fisher acquired in 2004. His Vivo biography credits him with engineering the acquisition of diagnostics companies including Phadia, One Lambda, BRAHMS, Microgenics, Seradyne, Duke Scientifics and Applied Biotech Inc. He founded Diagnostics Reagents Inc., acquired by Apogent in 1998, and co-founded several other diagnostic companies. He holds a B.S. in Chemistry from National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Rochester, and received a Distinguished Scholar Award from the University of Rochester in 2014 and a Distinguished Alumni Award from Cheng Kung University in 2012. His Vivo biography lists him as serving on the boards of PEG Bioscience, PharmaLegacy, AltheaDx, ReadCoor and Bonraybio, but none of these could be independently confirmed as current and Vivo's team biographies were found to be out of date on several other board claims, so no board seat is recorded.
