He is Professor of Pathology and Medicine at the Stanford University School of Medicine, where his biography states he established and oversees the Stanford Blood Center and directs immunology research. Vivo's biography describes him as the lead inventor of the technology underlying the cancer immunotherapy Provenge (sipuleucel-T), and as an author of over 300 publications who has trained more than 100 graduate and postgraduate students. He is a founder or co-founder of Cetus Immune, Genelabs and Dendreon, and of the Vivo portfolio companies Medeor, Bolt and Tranquis. He holds a B.A. from Harvard College and an M.D. from Columbia University School of Medicine, and received the CABS K Fong Prize in Life Sciences in 2017. Bolt Biotherapeutics' April 2026 proxy statement identifies him as one of the voting members of Vivo GP. No current board seat is recorded here: his Vivo biography states he currently serves on the board of Bolt (BOLT) and on several private company boards including Tranquis, Synapse and Ossium, but Bolt Biotherapeutics' own definitive proxy statement filed 28 April 2026 lists six directors and he is not among them, so the sentence is demonstrably out of date and the private-company claims in it could not be independently confirmed.
