Digitalis Ventures

Digitalis Ventures is a New York based venture firm investing in solutions to unmet needs in biomedicine and health. The firm approaches healthcare with what it calls an engineering mindset, backing early stage life sciences and healthcare technology companies whose science can produce transformational impact for patients, and it invests across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe. Digitalis runs two complementary strategies. Its human health funds, including a fourth fund closed at 300 million dollars in 2022, target breakthrough science addressing critical unmet medical needs. Its dedicated Companion Funds, raised in partnership with Mars, apply the same discipline to animal health, funding companies that use science, technology, and design to improve the lives of pets, pet owners, and veterinarians across veterinary diagnostics, veterinary medicine, information technologies, and online platforms. Companion Fund I launched in 2018 with 100 million dollars and Companion Fund II followed in 2023 with 300 million dollars. The firm sits within the broader Digitalis Group, which also houses Digitalis Commons, a nonprofit building public goods for health, and Digitalis Labs, an applied research group, giving the investment team a platform for research and company creation alongside its funds. Leadership pairs founder Geoffrey W. Smith with Managing Partner Misti Ushio, drawing on legal, academic, operating, and company building experience across biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
