Biography

Katie Rae is CEO and Managing Partner of Engine Ventures, the tough tech venture firm that became independent from MIT's The Engine in 2023. She led The Engine as CEO and Managing Partner from its 2017 launch, building the organization from the ground up, and under her leadership the firm closed its 398 million dollar third fund in 2024. She was previously Managing Director of Techstars Boston and co-founded Project 11 Ventures, and earlier held leadership roles at Microsoft, AltaVista, and RagingBull. Her investments have included PillPack, acquired by Amazon for 1 billion dollars in 2018, as well as Flywire and GrabCAD. She serves on the boards of Boston Metal, Commonwealth Fusion Systems, Form Energy, and Teradar, and co-founded the Equity Summit. She holds an MBA from Yale and a BA in biology from Oberlin College.
