Before Samsara he was President and CEO of Chinook Therapeutics, a kidney disease precision medicines company that the firm states was acquired by Novartis for $3.5 billion. Previously he was President and CEO of Silverback Therapeutics, and before that held positions of increasing responsibility over more than 15 years at Seagen, most recently as Chief Operating Officer. The firm states he has been directly involved in raising more than $2.5 billion in equity capital and led negotiation of corporate alliances. He has a law degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and an undergraduate degree from Princeton University, and serves on the boards of several public and private biotechnology companies including two Samsara portfolio companies, IntegerBio and Bionic Sight.
