Biography

Cain McClary, MD, is the Founder and Managing Partner of KdT Ventures, an early stage venture firm writing first institutional checks into companies engineering the physical layer of medicine, chemicals and materials. A physician by training, he earned an ScB in Biochemistry from Brown University and an MD from Tulane, completed a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health studying non-coding RNA in cancer, and trained in anatomic pathology at Stanford, where his research on a genetic mutation in ameloblastoma contributed to clinical trials. He later led pathology work at Grand Rounds before founding KdT in 2017. Under his leadership the firm has raised four funds, backed more than 65 frontier science companies, and grown to over $250 million under management.
