Trucks Venture Capital is a San Francisco seed fund founded in 2015 that invests exclusively in transportation, describing itself as funding the entrepreneurs building the future of transportation. Co-founded by Reilly Brennan, a former automotive journalist and Stanford lecturer, who runs the firm with partners Jeffrey Schox, Kathryn Schox and Puneeth Meruva, Trucks writes first checks of $500,000 to $2 million at pre-seed and seed, backing companies that make transportation decarbonized, safer and more accessible. The portfolio spans autonomy, electrification, aviation, trucking and logistics, including Joby Aviation, May Mobility, Nauto, Gatik and Skyryse. Realized exits include nuTonomy, acquired by Delphi, Roadster, sold to CDK Global for $360 million in 2021, Bear Flag Robotics, acquired by John Deere in 2021, DeepScale, acquired by Tesla, and Zendrive, acquired by Intuit. The firm closed its second fund at $52,525,252 in June 2021 alongside an AngelList-based growth vehicle for follow-on investments, and announced a $70 million third fund in January 2025, its largest to date, intended to back roughly 30 seed-stage companies with target ownership near 10 percent. Its limited partners include strategic corporates such as an automotive supplier, a tire manufacturer, an insurer and an airline.
Portfolio company Roadster, a digital car-buying platform, was acquired by CDK Global for $360 million in 2021.
