Prime Movers Lab is a venture firm founded in 2018 by Dakin Sloss and headquartered in Jackson, Wyoming. It invests in breakthrough scientific startups, backing founders it calls Prime Movers who are reinventing energy, transportation, infrastructure, manufacturing, human augmentation, and agriculture. The firm raised a 100 million dollar first fund in 2018, a 245 million dollar Fund II announced in January 2021 with limited partners including Bill Ackman and the University of Wyoming, a 500 million dollar Early Growth Fund announced in September 2022, and a 245 million dollar Fund III in July 2023, at which point it reported more than 1.2 billion dollars in assets under management. Author and coach Tony Robbins serves as Partner and Business Strategist. Unusually for an early stage deep tech firm, several portfolio companies reached public markets through SPAC mergers. The firm led the 25.5 million dollar 2019 Series A of space transportation company Momentus, and led the 2021 Series C of Energy Vault, which listed on the NYSE in February 2022. Heliogen, another portfolio listing, was acquired by Zeo Energy in 2025. Private holdings include Commonwealth Fusion Systems, Axiom Space, Boom, Figure, and Venus Aerospace.
Portfolio company Energy Vault, whose Series C the firm led as an existing investor, went public on the NYSE in February 2022 via SPAC merger with Novus Capital Corporation II.
