Biography

Wu Shangzhi is Chairman of CDH Investments and founded the firm in 2002. CDH's own team pages state that before founding CDH he headed China International Capital Corporation's private equity group from its inception in 1995, was a Managing Director there from 1998 and sat on CICC's Management Committee from 2000 to 2002. The English version of his biography adds that after leaving the IFC and World Bank he returned to China as a founding partner and Managing Director of Beijing Copia Consulting Company Ltd. Earlier he was a Senior Investment Officer at the International Finance Corporation from 1991 to 1993 and worked at the World Bank from 1984 to 1991. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. in Management of Technology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
