Biography

Thierry Laugel is a co-founder and Managing Partner of Kurma Partners, where he leads the Biofund franchise. He holds a PharmD and a PhD in pharmacy and pharmacology as well as an INSEAD MBA. He started in 1992 as an R&D project manager for Laboratoires Fournier in Tokyo, joined Flamel Technologies in 1996 to manage its development portfolio after the company's Nasdaq listing, then moved to investment at Caisse des Dépôts in 1998 and to AGF Private Equity, part of the Allianz group, in 2005, where he ran the healthcare investment team. He co-founded Kurma in July 2009 and has led investments in around 30 companies over his career, including Actelion, Arpida, Targacept, Adocia and Erytech. He sits on the boards of several Kurma-backed biotechs including Alize Pharma 3, Ermium, Horama, Minoryx, Blink Biomedical, Talix, Meiogenix and PathoQuest.
