He joined OrbiMed's predecessor firm in 1991 as a senior analyst covering European pharmaceutical and global biotechnology companies and became portfolio manager of the firm's first hedge fund in 1993. Until retiring as a Managing Partner in 2026 he headed OrbiMed's public equity business and served as a portfolio manager for its public equity and hedge fund strategies. He is a CFA charterholder and holds an M.Sc. in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics.
