A staff biography published by Mashup Machine, an outside manufacturing nonprofit, states that she graduated from MIT, began her career at a thin-film diamond startup in Silicon Valley, moved into technical sales for an MIT spinout that developed semiconductor equipment, co-founded a Field-Programmable Gate Array emulation startup, then returned to materials science at the Air Force Research Laboratory and later commercialised nuclear detectors; after more than 25 years in industry and startups she helped stand up the UMass Lowell Research Institute, where she was Director of its SBIR Center. The same biography states that at MassVentures she sources, mentors and funds deep-tech startups in Massachusetts, administers the START programme, and is a subcommittee chair for the Small Business Administration's Investment Capital Advisory Committee.
