Biography

Sonia Weymuller co-founded VentureSouq in Dubai in 2013 alongside Sonia Gokhale, Suneel Gokhale, and Tammer Qaddumi, building one of the earliest institutional venture platforms in the GCC at a time when the region's startup ecosystem was still nascent. The firm has since grown into a genuinely global early-stage investor with a distinctly thematic structure, running dedicated funds focused on fintech and climate tech rather than a single generalist vehicle, and has backed more than 300 companies including nine unicorns spanning Substack, Tabby, and Zoomcar. Weymuller has remained a public voice for VentureSouq's climate tech thesis, speaking on panels alongside other regional investors about the opportunity in decarbonization technology across the Gulf.
