Saar Gur co-founded the video ad platform BrightRoll in 2006 - building it, in his own telling, out of his San Francisco apartment - before Yahoo acquired it for $640 million in 2014. He joined CRV as a General Partner in 2007 and built a reputation for seeding consumer and marketplace startups before their categories became obvious: he led CRV's seed investment in DoorDash when the company was just nine weeks old, and backed the smart-doorbell startup Ring after it was rejected on Shark Tank, a bet Amazon validated with a $1 billion acquisition in 2018. DoorDash went public in December 2020 at a $39 billion valuation, one of four IPOs in Gur's portfolio, and he has appeared on the Forbes Midas List five times since his 2021 debut.
