Biography

Josh Wolfe co-founded Lux Capital in 2000 with Peter Hébert and Robert Paull, and is a Cornell alumnus, published scientist, and trustee of the Santa Fe Institute - a background that shows in how the firm invests. Lux's defining trait is that it does not treat hard science, difficult regulation, and long commercialization timelines as reasons to pass; Wolfe's own framing is that a first check can and should sit beside all three. That conviction put Lux into nuclear waste cleanup company Kurion before Fukushima made the category legible, into Auris Health seven years before Johnson & Johnson paid up to $6.1 billion for it, and into Anduril's seed round in 2017, when defense technology was still widely considered uninvestable by venture standards. He invests as a generalist across AI, automation, biotech, compute, defense, energy, infrastructure, and robotics.
