Biography

Daniel Kimerling is the Managing Partner of Deciens Capital, the title printed on the firm's team page; the firm's own Fund III announcement and its Epistula posts describe him as Founder and Managing Partner. Deciens states that he founded the firm in 2017 and that he drives its vision forward, leading early-stage investments in companies reshaping financial services including Chipper, SimplyWise and Treasury Prime, and that he is on the board of several portfolio companies including Chipper, GlacierGrid and Treasury Prime. Before Deciens he co-founded Standard Treasury, an API-driven banking infrastructure company backed by Y Combinator, Andreessen Horowitz and Index Ventures that was acquired by Silicon Valley Bank, after which he led API Banking, Open Platform and Global Research at SVB. Earlier in his career he worked as an analyst at TechCrunch. He earned an A.B. and an A.M., both with honors, from the University of Chicago and studied mathematical finance at the Booth School of Business for a year as a Booth Scholar. He is named as a Managing Member of the general partner in the Form D filings of the Deciens Capital Fund 2018, 2020, 2023 and 2023-A partnerships, and as a Managing Member of Deciens Capital, LLC in that entity's 2012 Form D.
