Chuck Newhall co-founded New Enterprise Associates in 1977 with Dick Kramlich and Frank Bonsal, after serving as a vice president at T. Rowe Price Associates working on its New Horizons Fund and as a US Army officer in Vietnam, where he received the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. At NEA he invested in healthcare services, information services and biopharmaceutical companies, and Supernus Pharmaceuticals states he served as a director of more than 60 venture-backed companies before retiring from the firm at the end of 2012. He founded the Mid-Atlantic Venture Capital Association in 1986 and received the National Venture Capital Association's American Spirit Award in 2010. He is chairman of the board of Supernus Pharmaceuticals and has advised Greenspring Associates since 2012.
