Ajay Agarwal spent two summers as a telemetry design engineer at Hughes Aircraft, helping bid on the original DirecTV satellite, before co-founding a software startup with a college classmate that grew into Trilogy Software - Agarwal joined as employee 18 and spent eight years running product and sales, growing revenue from $1 million to $300 million. After an MBA at Harvard and a stint at McKinsey, he joined Bain Capital Ventures in 2003. His signature bet came in 2004, when he led BCV's first institutional round in Kiva Systems, a warehouse robotics startup founded by Mick Mountz at a time when e-commerce was still nascent. Amazon acquired Kiva in 2012, rebranding it Amazon Robotics - its robots now power more than 2,000 fulfillment centers across Amazon's global network. Agarwal was named to the Forbes Midas List in both 2012 and 2013.
