Foundation Capital

Foundation Capital was founded in October 1995 by Bill Elmore, Kathryn Gould, and Jim Anderson in Palo Alto, built around a distinctive investment philosophy the firm still describes today: seeking out 'zero-billion-dollar markets,' categories that don't yet exist commercially until a visionary founder creates them from nothing. That conviction made Foundation one of Netflix's original investors, and the firm has spent three decades applying the same lens to fintech, enterprise software, and consumer internet, backing LendingClub, Chegg, Sunrun, and Uber among more than 400 total investments. Foundation has been the first institutional investor in more than 70% of its portfolio companies, and the firm's track record now spans 26 IPOs and more than 80 acquisitions.
