Biography

Stephen Knight brings an unusually technical foundation to biotech investing: an MD from Yale, an MBA, and early research experience at AT&T Bell Laboratories and the NIH, followed by more than 25 years operating inside pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies before joining F-Prime Capital (then Fidelity Biosciences) in 2003. Rather than simply writing checks, he's personally co-founded more than 30 platform biotech companies alongside academic researchers, including Beam Therapeutics and Denali Therapeutics - both of which he helped build from the earliest scientific idea through their respective Nasdaq IPOs. That hands-on, company-creation approach, drawing on Fidelity's resources and a distinctive 'technical-risk-yes, regulatory-risk-no' investment filter, has made him one of the most active builder-investors in healthcare venture capital, with SEC filings across multiple portfolio companies confirming his direct board involvement at each stage.
