Biography

Ryan Floyd earned degrees in Earth Systems from Stanford before a sales career at a technology company that went public in the late 1990s and was later acquired, giving him direct exposure to a full startup lifecycle before he ever became an investor. He co-founded Storm Ventures in 2000 with Tae Hea Nahm and Sanjay Subhedar, raising the firm's first fund in the same turbulent year the dot-com bubble began collapsing - timing Floyd has called pure luck, since raising a year later would likely have been far harder. Storm has built a deliberately focused thesis in early-stage B2B enterprise software, SaaS, and cybersecurity ever since, avoiding the insular 'network of friends' funding pattern common among some venture firms in favor of a broader, more assertive sourcing approach, and has made more than 200 investments including Workato, Talkdesk, and Pipedrive over 25 years. Floyd remains active in diversity initiatives in tech, including support for Code2040.
