Biography

Ricardo Angel is CEO and Managing Partner of Piva Capital, the San Francisco venture firm he founded in 2019 with a 250 million dollar inaugural fund backed solely by PETRONAS. He has more than 25 years of experience investing in the industrial and energy sectors. He was previously the founding Managing Director of GE Ventures and led Energy Technology Ventures, a 300 million dollar joint venture among GE, NRG Energy, and ConocoPhillips. Earlier he was a venture capital investment professional at Chevron, an investment banking analyst at Goldman Sachs, and a management consultant at CNA Corporation. His portfolio work at Piva includes Worlds.io, VELO3D, Malta, and VEIR. He holds a PhD in engineering from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Kellogg.
