He formed Invus in 1985, having previously been a manager for The Boston Consulting Group in Paris, and is based in the New York office. He holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, an MS in Food Science and Technology from the University of California, Davis and a BS in Agricultural Sciences and Agricultural Engineering from the American University of Beirut. Lexicon Pharmaceuticals' 2026 proxy statement records that he has been a Lexicon director since August 2007 and became chairman of its board in February 2012, and that he serves as chairman or director of a number of private companies in which Invus or Artal Group S.A. have invested. He is chairman of Action Against Hunger USA and a Trustee Emeritus of Connecticut College.
