Biography

Mike Maples, Jr. is a co-founding partner at Floodgate, a Menlo Park seed stage venture firm he started with Ann Miura-Ko, whose firm bio dates the founding to 2008. His Floodgate bio states that some of his investments include Twitter, Twitch.tv, Clover Health, Okta, Outreach, Chegg, Demandforce and Applied Intuition, and that he has been on the Forbes Midas List eight times in the last decade. Before investing full time he was a founder and operating executive at back-to-back startup IPOs, Tivoli Systems and Motive. He is the author of the national bestselling book Pattern Breakers, co-written with Peter Ziebelman and published in July 2024, and coined the term Thunder Lizards.
