Biography

Magnus Grimeland's path to founding Antler ran through Norway's Naval Special Forces, McKinsey consulting, and building Zalora, Southeast Asia's first major fashion e-commerce platform, which became a training ground for a remarkable list of future founders - Gojek's Kevin Aluwi and Nadiem Makarim, StashAway's Michele Ferrario, and ShopBack's founding team all passed through Zalora before starting their own companies. That experience convinced Grimeland that talented people were often stuck in roles that didn't fully use their potential, and he founded Antler in Singapore in 2017 with Fridtjof Berge to back exceptional founders from 'Day Zero' - before they even have a team or a product. That model, offering founders up to $400,000 and access to a global mentor network through residency programs, has made Antler the world's most active early-stage venture firm by deal volume according to PitchBook, backing more than 1,800 startups across 27 countries including unicorns Airalo (eSIM marketplace) and Lovable (Swedish AI coding platform, valued at $6.6 billion).
