Biography

Julian Harris, M.D., is an Operating Partner on Deerfield's Healthcare Services team and joined the firm in 2019, working with healthcare services and technology companies that are current and potential investment partners. He is also Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ConcertoCare, a technology-enabled, value-based at-home care provider for seniors and a company listed on Deerfield's portfolio page. Before Deerfield he was the founding President of CareAllies, Cigna's family of multi-payer provider services and home-based care businesses, and previously led US Strategic Operations for Cigna and managed a $500M internal investment portfolio. He was an Adviser to Google Ventures focused on health care services, and before that led the health care team in the White House Office of Management and Budget, overseeing a $1 trillion budget covering programmes including Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, NIH and CDC. He also served as chief executive of the $11 billion Massachusetts Medicaid program. He trained in internal medicine and primary care at Harvard Medical School's Brigham & Women's Hospital. He graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Health Policy & Medical Ethics from Duke University, holds an M.Sc. from Oxford University where he was a Rhodes Scholar, and is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business and the University of Pennsylvania's School of Medicine, where he is an Adjunct Professor. He serves on the board of the Commonwealth Fund.
