Joshua Kushner founded Thrive Capital in 2009 at just 24 years old, funding the firm's first, $5 million fund largely himself after a brief stint in Goldman Sachs' private equity group. Thrive has stayed deliberately small in deal volume - funding only a handful of new companies most years - while making some of the earliest bets on Instagram and, more recently, OpenAI, a concentrated approach that has made it one of the highest-returning firms of its size. Outside of Thrive, Kushner co-founded and serves as vice chairman of Oscar Health, the technology-driven health insurance company.
