Biography

Feng Deng holds a genuinely rare combination of degrees - dual Tsinghua engineering degrees, a USC master's in computer engineering, and a Wharton MBA - that he applied first as co-founder of NetScreen Technologies, an enterprise security company that completed a NASDAQ IPO in 2001 before Juniper Networks acquired it for $4.2 billion in 2004. He used those proceeds and that operating credibility to co-found Northern Light Venture Capital in 2005 with fellow NetScreen co-founder Yan Ke and Jeffrey Lee, building a cross-border US-China fund that has backed nearly 200 companies, including Meituan, Aerohive Networks, GigaDevice, and Tencent Music. Deng was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2002 and CRN Innovator of the Year in 2003, and Northern Light now manages more than $4.5 billion across US-dollar and RMB-denominated funds.
