Ed Bussey began his career in the Royal Navy and UK national security roles before becoming a genuine three-time successful founder - figleaves.com, named UK Internet Retailer of the Year in 2004 and sold to N Brown Plc in 2010, and Quill, a multi-language e-commerce content platform he built over a decade before selling to Jellyfish in 2020. That operating track record, plus his Cambridge Natural Sciences background, led Oxford Science Enterprises to appoint him CEO in September 2023, alongside Jack Edmondson as the firm's newly created Chief Investment Officer, following a period of leadership turnover in the fund's early years. Bussey now leads OSE's endowment-style, evergreen investment model, translating University of Oxford scientific research into transformational companies across a portfolio of more than 125 spinouts with a combined value exceeding £1.1 billion.
