Biography

David Marquardt co-founded August Capital in 1995 and is listed on the firm's site as a founding partner. Before that he co-founded Technology Venture Investors in 1980, the sole investor in Microsoft, and he served on Microsoft's board of directors from 1981 until 2014. His firm bio states he has served on more than 40 boards of directors over a venture capital career that began in 1979, and that he was earlier at Institutional Venture Associates and was a design engineer and development manager at Diablo Systems. He holds a BSME from Columbia University and an MBA from Stanford University, and has served as president of the Western Association of Venture Capitalists and as a director of the National Venture Capital Association.
