Biography

Antoine Papiernik has spent nearly three decades at Sofinnova Partners, the Paris-based life sciences investment firm founded in 1972, which split from its American counterpart Sofinnova Investments (now based in Menlo Park) in 1997 - the same year he joined. As Chairman and Managing Partner, Papiernik has helped guide Sofinnova through its evolution into a hands-on company builder across the entire life sciences value chain, from seed-stage incubation through later-stage growth investing in biopharma, medtech, industrial biotech, and digital medicine. Under his leadership, Sofinnova supported Shockwave Medical over more than a decade before Johnson & Johnson's acquisition of the cardiovascular device company, and the firm has backed more than 500 companies over its 50-plus year history, raising €1.2 billion in a single year in 2025 to push total assets under management past €4 billion.
