Voltron Capital

Voltron Capital was co-founded in July 2021 by Olumide Soyombo, one of Africa's most prolific angel investors, and Abe Choi, a US-based entrepreneur and investor. Soyombo had already built a personal portfolio of more than 30 African startups - including Paystack, PiggyVest, and Mono - through angel checks since 2014, and Voltron was built specifically to formalize that track record into institutional capital addressing what the founders called a severe lack of access to early-stage funding across the continent. The firm writes $20,000 to $100,000 pre-seed and seed checks focused on Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, and North Africa, launched its first fund in 2022, and had backed 53 startups through that vehicle alone.

Signature Exit

No confirmed fund-level exit yet - Voltron itself launched in 2021, though co-founder Olumide Soyombo's prior personal angel investment in Paystack (acquired by Stripe in 2020) lends the firm real pre-existing credibility
