SVG Ventures

SVG Ventures is the investing entity and THRIVE is the innovation and venture-development platform it operates; the two are branded together as "SVG Ventures | THRIVE" in the firm's own announcements, and the firm's homepage states "Founded in 2014, THRIVE operates as our global innovation platform". THRIVE is not a separate manager: it runs the accelerator, academy, studio and immersion programmes, the Global Impact Challenge, the Food 50 and Ag 50 report series, a corporate innovation practice and a database the firm describes as over 12,000 AgTech companies, while capital is deployed by SVG Ventures' funds. The firm states it invests at "Seed, Series A and beyond" across "Food & Nutrition, Next Gen Agriculture, Climate Resilience, Energy & Water, Industrial Life Sciences & Bioeconomy" in North America, Europe and Asia. Named fund vehicles are the SVG Ventures Pioneer Fund, described by the firm and by BetaKit as its third fund with a $75M CAD target and Farm Credit Canada as anchor limited partner, and the Sunrise Fund, a $50M corporate venture capital fund established with Kagome Co., Ltd. in September 2024. SVG Ventures says it is headquartered in Silicon Valley with offices in Canada, Australia, Ireland and the UK, and it established a Canadian subsidiary, SVG Ventures Thrive, in Calgary in 2021.
