Salt VC is the firm formerly known as Peterson Ventures. It backs pre-seed and seed rounds and says on its own site that it often invests before the round, the deck or the company exists. It was founded in 2012 as the venture arm of the Salt Lake City investment platform Peterson Partners, and on 2 September 2026 it spun out as an independent company and renamed itself Salt VC, with Utah Business reporting that its team, funds and strategy were unchanged. It is led by three General Partners, Ben Capell, Ilana Stern and Taylor Jones, and lists offices in San Francisco and Lehi, Utah.
