Coinbase Ventures is the corporate venture arm of Coinbase Global, Inc. (Nasdaq: COIN). Its own page states that it backs entrepreneurs "working to advance the crypto/Web3 ecosystem and support Coinbase's mission of creating more economic freedom for the world", and that it invests "broadly across all categories within the cryptoeconomy", listing layer 1 protocols, Web3 infrastructure, centralized on-ramps, decentralized finance, NFTs, metaverse technologies and developer tooling. Global Venturing reported in June 2025 that the unit "invests off the Coinbase balance sheet" rather than from a limited-partner fund, that it began in 2018 as an experimental effort staffed by Coinbase volunteers, and that it has since made more than 500 investments in nearly 50 countries. Fortune reported in October 2024 that initial investments typically range from US$1 million to US$5 million. Its 25 November 2025 outlook post names four areas for 2026: RWA perpetuals; specialized exchanges and trading terminals; next-generation DeFi; and AI and robotics. A related vehicle, the Base Ecosystem Fund, is described on base.org as investing in pre-seed and seed startups building on Base "in partnership with Coinbase Ventures".
