Yi Cao studied computer science at Tsinghua University and worked as a Vice President at Sequoia Capital China before founding Source Code Capital in the spring of 2014, betting early on what became one of the most consequential Chinese technology investments of the decade: ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok. Cao built Source Code around a specific 'Big 3' investment thesis - Internet+, AI+, and Global+ - and a founder-first support model including the Code Class entrepreneur community and Code Brain knowledge-sharing sessions, backing more than 300 companies including Meituan, KE Holdings, Li Auto, and RELX Technology. He has been repeatedly named to the Forbes Midas List, and Source Code now manages approximately $7 billion across dual-currency funds.
