Biography

Tomi Poutanen is a co-founder and partner at Radical Ventures, where his bio says he is also a co-founder of Radical portfolio company Signal 1, a health AI start-up. Before Radical he co-founded Layer 6 AI, which TD Bank Group acquired in 2018 and where he then served as Chief AI Officer and SVP, and he is a co-founder of the Vector Institute. His bio states he founded four AI companies with exits to Microsoft, Yahoo! and TD Bank, and that he spent the first part of his career pioneering machine learning in web search at Yahoo! Search and then Bing. He co-authored Canada's first National AI Policy in 2017 and holds an MSc in Computer Engineering and an MBA from the University of Toronto.
