Biography

Peter Dicks and fellow London stockbroker Hon. Anthony Montagu founded Abingworth in 1973, initially making broader technology investments - including early stakes in Apple and Silicon Graphics - before Dicks led the firm's pivot to dedicated biotechnology investing with the establishment of its biotech arm in 1987. That pivot built Abingworth into one of the longest-running and most respected transatlantic life sciences investors, backing more than 180 companies across seed through late-stage development with 73-plus completed IPOs and 46 acquisitions, including Clovis Oncology's NASDAQ listing and Algeta's sale to Bayer. Dicks has chaired numerous biotech companies and advised UK health funds throughout his career, helping build Abingworth into a firm managing billions before its 2022 acquisition by The Carlyle Group.
