Biography

Norm Augustine was the founding chairman of the board of In-Q-Tel, the independent not-for-profit strategic investment firm set up by the CIA in 1999. He spent his career in aerospace and government, serving as Under Secretary of the Army from 1975 to 1977, as chief executive and chairman of Martin Marietta from 1987, and as president and then chairman and chief executive officer of Lockheed Martin from its 1995 formation until his retirement as CEO in April 1997. He subsequently lectured at Princeton University's engineering school from 1997 to 1999, chaired the National Academy of Engineering, and in 2009 chaired NASA's Review of United States Human Space Flight Plans Committee. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering from Princeton University in 1957 and 1959.
