Biography

Nino Marakovic was born in Croatia and built his early career in investment banking at Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and Robertson Stephens before moving into venture capital at Draper Fisher Jurvetson. He joined SAP Ventures in 2006, eventually leading the team through its 2011 spinout into an independent venture firm - a deal he personally engineered - and the firm rebranded to Sapphire Ventures in 2014. Over 25 years of investing and operating, Marakovic has backed more than 100 private companies and venture funds and been affiliated with nearly 40 exits between IPOs and M&A, including LinkedIn, Monday.com, Integral Ad Science, OpsRamp, and Braze. Colleagues describe him as an unusually calm, no-nonsense investor who avoids getting caught up in ideology, and he now sits on the boards of ActivTrak and Adverity.
