Michel Akkermans

Biography

Michel Akkermans is listed on Volta Ventures' site as Chairman, alongside managing partners Frank Maene and Sander Vonk. Reporting on the firm's second fund in 2019 described him as a serial entrepreneur and investor continuing in his role as chairman of the shareholder advisory board and venture partner, a governance role rather than a day to day investing seat. He founded FICS in 1989 and led it as Chairman and CEO until its 1999 merger into S1 Corporation, where he was Executive Chairman, and in 2001 co-founded Clear2Pay, which FIS agreed to acquire in 2014 for 375 million euros. Volta Ventures' site publishes no biography for him and attributes no investments to him.
