Biography

Marta G. Zanchi is the founder of Nina Capital and, on the firm's team page, holds the title "founder, managing partner"; the firm's team page also lists her as Chairman of the Board of Nina Capital SGEIC, S.A. Her biography on the firm's site says she was born in pre-alpine northern Italy, moved to Milan and then to California, and studied biomedical and electrical engineering from a bachelor's at Politecnico di Milano to a doctorate at Stanford University, specialising in medical instrumentation and imaging systems. It says she took the Biodesign health technology innovation class at Stanford in 2007, later joined the Stanford School of Medicine faculty and founded digital health programs at the Biodesign centre, and then created Nina Capital to invest in European need-driven founders at the intersection of healthcare and technology. She writes most of the firm's blog output under her own byline. She is named as a Board Director on the leadership page of the portfolio company MedaSystems. Her title as given in the firm's own announcements has varied over time between "founder and managing partner", "Managing Partner" and "Founding Managing Partner"; one trade outlet reporting the Fund III first close rendered it as "Founder and Managing Director".
