Biography

Lior Susan's path to venture capital runs through a kibbutz in Israel and an elite Special Forces unit, not a university - by his own account, he arrived in Silicon Valley in his mid-20s with no formal education and no experience working for anyone else. In 2008 he joined his brother to build Intucell, a software-defined networking startup for telecom networks, and sold it to Cisco for $475 million four years later. He then spent three years at Flex, the global manufacturing company, leading its Lab IX hardware investment platform and getting an inside view of the operational inefficiencies choking legacy physical industries - manufacturing, logistics, energy. That experience became the direct thesis behind Eclipse Ventures, which he founded in 2015 on the belief that rebuilding those industries, not just software-enabling them, would define the next generation of consequential companies. Eclipse's 2020 investment in battery maker Enovix, which went public the following year, remains one of the clearest proof points of that thesis.
