Founder & Managing General Partner at Munich Re Ventures · Joined 2015
View Live Interactive Profile →Jacqueline LeSage built roughly five years of corporate venture capital and strategy experience at The Hartford before founding Munich Re Ventures in 2015, telling colleagues she knew that if she ever built a CVC program again, she wanted to do it in reinsurance - and that opportunity arrived when Munich Re began exploring its own venture arm. Over a decade, LeSage grew the fund into one of the most sophisticated corporate venture platforms built by a global reinsurer, deploying approximately $1.2 billion across nearly 100 investments and integrating tightly with Munich Re's underwriting, engineering, and distribution capabilities rather than offering portfolio companies capital alone. That approach produced real outcomes: Mnubo's acquisition by AspenTech, and Next Insurance's $2.6 billion acquisition by Munich Re itself in 2025. Despite that track record and the parent company posting record profits, Munich Re announced in late 2025 that it would wind down the venture unit by mid-2026 amid a leadership transition, folding remaining portfolio oversight into its asset management arm, MEAG.
