Biography

Greg Sands was Netscape's first product manager and a business development manager at Cisco before becoming a Managing Director at Sutter Hill Ventures, then founding Costanoa Ventures in 2012 to lead Seed and Series A rounds in complex, high-impact markets where deep sector expertise matters - applied AI, data infrastructure, cybersecurity, and fintech among them. Costanoa backed VictorOps at Series A, which Splunk acquired in 2018, and more recently backed SGNL, acquired by CrowdStrike in January 2026. The firm closed its $175 million Fund III in 2017 and has stayed disciplined about leading rounds in categories it believes require real technical depth to evaluate correctly.
