Biography

Eric Young co-founded Canaan in 1987 as a spin-out of GE Venture Capital, and Canaan's page states that over 32 years he led multiple generations of Canaan investors and shaped the firm's culture. Before Canaan he worked at General Electric in sales, marketing, operations and as a General Manager, and opened the West Coast office for GE's venture capital group. Alongside advising Canaan's investment team he served on advisory boards focused on venture and entrepreneurial skill development in university ecosystems. He held a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University, and died on October 23, 2021.
